Kim Weiss Photography - The Blog bio picture

Welcome

I'm so glad you stopped by my blog! I hope this can be a place you can learn a little bit more about me, whether you are a current or future client, friend, family, or fellow photographer.

I am located in the St. Louis, Missouri area and specialize in custom portraiture of maternity, newborns, babies, children, and families. I have a small studio and also do on-location sessions as well.

As a mom to seven, I understand how stressful getting portraits done can be. It was a big motivating factor in pursuing this photography passion. My goal is to always make this an enjoyable experience for you and your family. So plan to have fun at our sessions!

I am a proud member of Professional Photographers of America as well as a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

teacher gifts this year

I usually try to do a little bit creative yet useful gifts for the teachers, so I saw this idea and it definitely fit in the budget this year.  Hopefully they will love them!

Pampered Chef whisks filled with assorted Hershey Kisses.  The tags read “We whisk you a merry kiss-mas”.  I just used Mindy Terasawa’s Colorful Christmas digital tags from Designer Digitals.  Mindy always makes holiday crafty projects super easy!

beautiful senior girl

I thought I’d just take a quick peek at a fun senior session today with a most beautiful girl… and then I couldn’t resist processing a few which means I can’t help but post a few!

It was so great to meet you today, N… and I’m totally going to make you do a fun outdoor session this spring!

And I couldn’t resist applying a few funky effects… my regular sessions don’t always lend themselves to fun & funky effects, so it’s always fun to try different things!  Seniors are fun!  I can see myself perhaps getting into the senior market on a regular basis!

a couple of my most favorite boys

Just a little sneak peek from Wednesday’s session with the M boys.  Love when they come to visit and play.  My Thomas & G really have a blast!

Giving is Awesome!

A group of wonderful photographers from all over the United States (led by Kristen Kalp of Essential Imagery), have been challenged to offer an amazing gift. I found it to be a wonderful idea and just COULD NOT pass up on this opportunity to give what I can.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $500 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $125 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the St. Louis area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : kim@kimweissphotography.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

a day late

I didn’t post this yesterday because my brewing sinus infection/cold got the better of me.

My oldest boy turned 11 yesterday.  Happy Birthday, Billy!  We are so proud of you!

quick sneak peek!

Big sister A set up this session as a gift for her parents.  Isn’t that the BEST?!  I think her parents are going to be so touched by such a thoughtful gift.  And, yes, C, you are definitely one of the funniest people I’ve had here (and the cutest too!).

A, not sure if you want me to put these up on Facebook yet or until after your parents see.

a few more!

Just a couple more to tease you!

still laughing

after the fun session I had with D&D today!  They are twin sisters who wanted to have a fun session while D was in town visiting.  And boy did we have fun!  They were naturals in front of the camera and aren’t they GORGEOUS!?

Here’s tiny sneak peek, D & D!  I wasn’t even going to post any until tomorrow, but couldn’t resist.  I may tease you with a couple more tomorrow to hold you over until your entire gallery is finished!

a few to redeem myself

from yesterday of my gang!

and totally had to post one more out-take.  So very Sophie.  It’s a little hard to see, but she’s totally got air time here.
