This week is also filled with school orientations… including :::gulp:::: HIGH SCHOOL orientation!  Abby is super excited about starting high school on Monday, and her biggest worry?  Forgetting how to get her lock on her locker open.  (she practiced quite a bit tonight)  Everyone is ready to get back to school.  I’m going to miss the (somewhat) lazy days of summer and being with them, but am welcoming the return to schedules and order… and truthfully those few hours apart are sounding okay too!  LOL

getting caught up – [St. Louis Newborn & Maternity Photographer]

May and June have been very busy as evidenced by my lack of blogging!  I’m finally feel like I’m getting caught up though!  I’ve got 4 big jobs behind me, and so I see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Thanks so much for all those who have been patient in waiting for their gallery uploads.

I got to take part and photograph two special events (2 of those big jobs).  First, my friend, Amy, does a lot of volunteer work for Thrive St. Louis, and so I was able to go along with her to photograph their 5K Walk & Run.  The following weekend, Amy came along with me to photograph the Relay For Life in Arnold.  Both amazing events for fabulous causes that I definitely feel honored to be a part of.

But really, all that to say, hope to be back to blogging more and not feeling so behind all the time!

And now, on with some photos!
There is a small field right as you come into my subdivision, and it is just GORGEOUS now!  I’ve told a few people how they NEED to bring someone out to shoot in it, and I really have high hopes of getting some of my kids out for some photos in it. So, when my friend, Jodie, called and said she was, in fact, bringing a client to the field, and would I bring down my ugly chair and would I like to shoot some of her gorgeous clients… well, I sped down the hill as fast as I could!

Finished up sweet little one year old A’s session + cake smash.  Always end up with way too many images, but love them too much!  I often do 10×20 storyboards for the cake smash sessions, but am really liking this option to get MORE images on!  So fun!

After this session, as sometimes happens, Sophie comes in the “help” me clean up the studio and decides she’ll actually let me snap a few images of her.  Which I always love being able to catch as she’s almost 2 and not ever always cooperative.

Isn’t she just a total sweetness little angel?

oops… another theme [St. Louis Child & Family Portrait Photographer]

Just dug around amazon.com and found the Wedding theme for Minute Scrapbooker *is* released!

minute scrapbooker [St. Louis Children's Portrait Photographer]

I was asked to work on a new product by Autumn Leaves and it is now out!  I was excited about this product because it’s target audience is actually someone just like ME!  Someone a little intimidated at the idea of scrapbooking with actual paper (I’ve strictly been a digital scrapbooking girl).  Overwhelmed with the choices, the papers, the chipboard, the tools, and on!  So these are kits put together, and unlike most kits, you don’t need a single tool!  Just bring your photos and you can complete pages in 2 minutes or 6 minutes per page.  Easy peasy!

So my job was to design these pages and all the elements used.  Super exciting, huh?  And even more exciting to see my stuff on a package!  And how fun for the clients whose images I got to use on the samples!  The themes I worked on are Baby, Wedding, & Tween Boys.  So far, I just see the Baby kits out right now.

Here is the 2 minute kit… 6 pages you can complete in 2 minutes each page.

And the 6 minute… 6 pages you can complete in 6 minutes per page

and just as an added bonus, my friend Deena Wuest used a photo of mine of Gracie in her School kit!

more from CDH Awareness Day [St. Louis Child & Family Photographer]

I’m out of words.  That’s really how I felt that day.  Just in awe of these families, these babies, these survivors, these doctors and nurses who care for them and who research causes and cures.  So for now, I’ll just leave you with a few more images from that day.  And another link to Breath of Hope and their blog.

did you know? [St. Louis Child Photographer]

Did you know… Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, or CDH, is one of the most common birth defects?  Because before yesterday, I didn’t.

Did you know… one in 2,000 babies are affected with this?  Because before yesterday, I didn’t.

Did you know… only about half of these babies survive?  Because before yesterday, I didn’t.

Did you know… even what CDH is?  Because before yesterday, I didn’t.

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is a birth defect that occurs when the diaphragm does not fully form, allowing organs to enter the chest cavity preventing lung growth.

And now today, I want everyone to know.  I want everyone to help.  There has to be more awareness and research so we can help these babies, these families.

Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of meeting some families affected by CDH, both with good outcomes and tragic.  They came together at St. Louis Children’s Hospital on Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness Day to present $16,000 they raised to help further research on CDH.  The donations were given through Breath of Hope, Inc., a non-profit that helps families affected by CDH and promotes awareness and research.
