some fun with editing [St. Louis Urban Senior Photographer]

I have been wanting to push myself more in editing my images.  I’m naturally drawn to doing bright, colorful, clean images… and I’m sure that will always be my “signature style” if I have a style.  But I also love the look of fun, edgy, grungy, texture-y (yeah, sure it’s a word!) treatments on images.  I just don’t know how well I pull it off, but it’s fun to play!

Here are two from my fun senior session that I need more hours in the day to get through editing… and couldn’t help playing with today!  (Needed a fun pick-me-up after a rough NILMDTS session on Saturday)

just a couple… okay four! [St. Louis Urban Senior Photographer]

I had a great time on Sunday with these beautiful and fun “senior” (::wink, wink::) girls shooting in urban locations.  I told myself that I was just going to peek at them real quick today and pull out just 2 to post.  Well, 2 just wouldn’t do, so here are 4 random picks.  I won’t even call them “favorites” as I probably have about 50 favorites… haha!

As an added note, I’m looking to book senior spokes models now… so if you are or know a current junior, class of 2010, email me and let’s talk!  I’ve got a great program!

gorgeous day! [St. Louis Children's Urban Photographer]

What a beautiful & gorgeous day it was in St. Louis today!  We’ve been enjoying the gorgeous weather as my kids have spring break from school!  No need to run south for gorgeous weather, it’s HERE!  They’ve been playing outside.  In shorts.  Having lots of water gun fights.  And just generally staying outside until it’s dark.  Love it!

Today I needed to shoot.  Today Gracie needed a little one-on-one Mommy time.  So today, we went out and did just that.

Only, at first, she just wasn’t feelin’ it I guess… and she was highly ticked I wouldn’t just take her down to see the Mississippi River.

So I took the poor tortured soul down to see the Mississippi, and all was then right in Gracie’s world!

And then we did something she’s been begging to do!

new haircut & curls [St. Louis Child Photographer]

It’s been another week!  I started off the week on Sunday getting up at 4:45, which for all intents and purposes was really 3:45 with the time change, to meet up with another photography buddy and travel 3+ hours to a NILMDTS training seminar.  Needless to say, by the time we got back that evening, I was ready to crash.  And crash I did!  I couldn’t even keep my eyes open to watch Big Love with Bill (our big date each Sunday evening… LOVE that show!!) and was in bed, asleep, by 8:30.  That *never* happens.  Never.  Thankfully, all that craziness helped my body really adjust to the time change quite well!

Now, I’m ending the week with the start of SPRING BREAK for my kiddos!  Hopefully we don’t get our sleep patterns all messed up again, but I totally welcome the break from strict bedtimes, homework, activities, packing lunches, washing uniforms, getting up and out the door in the mornings.   Looks like a good weather week too!

And since I can’t blog without posting a photo or two, I leave you with Thomas’ new haircut.  For some reason, he’s particularly proud of his new haircut.  He couldn’t wait to show Mrs. Clark, his teacher, and he’s been anxiously waiting for Nonnie (my mom) to come over to see it!

and I’m thinking the curls might be staying around for a while.  My other curly-headed kids started off curly, and then loosened up.  She was BALD starting off, but her hair seems to get curlier and curlier.  We’ll see!

A few fun projects coming up.  Will share more later!!

Queen of Quirk – [St. Louis Child & Baby Photographer]

Yes, I’m still around!  I’ve been helping put together the yearbook for my kids’ school and it’s down to crunch time as I have to submit it by Monday.  Thankfully, I’ve got everything wrapped up aside from needing 2 more photos.  Woot woot!  Hopefully I can be a better blogger after I hit that “submit” button!

On to my Queen of Quirk, Miss Sophie.  I’ve already told you (and showed you) about her quirky breakfast habits/attire.  Well, really, the quirky attire isn’t reserved only for breakfast.  Any given moment you can really find her in all sorts of weird get-ups, carrying around bizarre things.  Today, as we leave to pick up Thomas from preschool, she comes toddling to me “okay, Mom, ready!!” in one muddy soccer cleat and one purple glove.  “Can we leave the glove and dirty shoe at home, Soph?”  “NOOOOOooooooooOOOoooooOO!  Ready!!!”

I buckle her up and just start completely laughing not at her get-up per se, but the fact that this was one of the more mild looks she’s come out of the house in.
