what a gorgeous day!

We had a most beautiful day today, and looks like we are in store for more!  Yay!

My kids had a half day today for Parent/Teacher Conferences.  I went today and met with Gracie and Thomas’ teachers.  Gracie has straight A’s and glowing praises from her teacher.  We had warned her about how bossy she is and very different than Samuel, who she had 2 years ago…. but she says she doesn’t see any of the bossing, but agreed she is very different than Samuel.  She told me how she gets along very well with everyone, but also stands up for herself quite well (um, that’s probably an understatement.. hehe).  She told me that she loves playing tether ball with the older boys, but she’ll tell them to “go easy” on her (she’s a little bitty thing still), and when they don’t, she stands right up to them and says, “FINE!  Then I’m not playing with YOU anymore!!”  And I could totally see Miss Gracie doing that, hands on hips and stomp to complete it.

Thomas’ teacher also had the sweetest things to say about Thomas.  *WE* know what a sweet and special little guy he is, but it’s always nice to hear others agree with you!  She calls him her “little buddy” and he certainly is.  (she still is his “best & favorite friend”)  Thomas has some speech issues, he’s making strides, but he’s still behind his peers.  The good thing is, Thomas really doesn’t realize that there is a problem… he’s not shy to chatter away.  But one thing we’ve always been amazed with, given his delays with speech, is how bright he is with numbers and letters.  Mrs. Clark was very surprised that he knew all his numbers by sight (he knows all his letters by sight too, but she didn’t ask him about those yet).  We’ve teased as he plays his computer games, he can barely talk, but he has taught himself to read!

Tomorrow I have the rest of the kids!

I found these cool set of chairs on craigslist last week, and sent my husband off to pick them up… so I’ve been itching to drag one out for photos… and Gracie played model for me for a little bit.  Had a bit of fun processing these a little different.

My birthday boy!

Thomas, my youngest boy, turned 4 on Wednesday!  I know I say it with every birthday, but I really cannot believe he is 4.  He’s the sweetest little guy and while he can be a bit shy, he’s definitely my most social child.  He’s loving school so much, I’m so glad we made the decision to send him (my first to go to preschool).  He had his special day at school on Tuesday to celebrate (thanks, Aunt Linda for keeping Sophie!!) and brough muffins and grape juice for all his friends (though, he still insists Mrs. Clark, his teacher, is his best & favorite friend).

We finally got out today for some birthday boy shots.  Isn’t he a handsome little fellow?!

back to life

back to reality.

Had a fabulously relaxing time.  Definitely feeling refreshed.  We really need those little breaks every so often!

Working on finishing up proofing the C family’s newborn session.  So excited to share these images!  So many I’m in love with!

ack!

So sorry if I inadvertantly filled your inbox with what was *supposed* to simply be an auto-response *only* if you emailed me while I was gone.  Only, I’m apparently a big doofus and my “auto-response” just responded to EVERYONE in my inbox.  ACK!

Looks like my email server is finally blocking them from being sent out.  Can’t apologize enough.  I won’t try to do something that is obviously too techy for me again!

out of town notice

I’ll actually be out of the country.  Getting away for an extended weekend.  I’ll be completely unavailable… on a cruise deck…. with a good book… and lots of napping.  We leave on Thursday, October 16th and return on Monday the 20th.

such a nice cool fall day

Okay, so Saturday wasn’t exactly fall-like with 80 degree temps, but we faked it as best we could.  The beautiful C girls came out for a session outside on Saturday.  3 of my most favorite girls I must say!  I even think I had a whole bunch of bunny ears held up behind my head!  Sneaky silly girls!

Here are a couple to peek at!

newborn sweetness

It’s really no secret that I love babies!  I absolutely love and adore newborn sessions.  They usually take a long time, I leave a sweaty mess, but I get to snuggle in that newborn sweetness!

I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family today with their gorgeous new little guy.  Baby L was one of the most alert and awake and strong and curious newborns I’ve ever seen.  He loved my bean bag.  He loved to be talked to.  He loved to look around and study everything (seriously, this 13 day old baby was studying everything around him and *very* aware of his mommy & daddy).  Baby L just didn’t want to fall asleep for anything.  It was all good and well because we got some really beautiful images (with eye contact!!).

A&T, I hope L slept HOURS for you after I left and that you got some rest.  Thanks again for allowing me to come in and take over your home!

Here are a couple sneak peeks:

just the littles

We are finally getting little pockets of color in the yard… so I wanted to see how they’d photograph!  It’s just the littles at home today, so they were the guinea pigs… only guinea pigs aren’t really known for listening to the “stay right here”, especially that littlest busy one that wasn’t even slowed down by the fact that I didn’t put shoes on her.  and our yard is full of sticks and rocks.

So this is mainly what I get from her:

I only seem to be able to capture her by putting her on the front porch swing… she’s still a little hesitant to get down by herself.  What a mean mommy!

Thomas is a little bit better… but I had to promise him lunch on the back porch and to play Diego on Wii.

daily dose of digital

I had the pleasure of working on Daily Dose of Digital, an e-book 2009 calendar full of never-seen-before layouts and inspiration at Designer Digitals.  It was a fabulous and fun project to work on and I know digital, paper, and hybrid scrappers alike will love all the inspiration jam-packed into this daily calendar.  And look, one of my pages made the cover!
